I'm going to go over the various weaknesses in the roster and coaching staff, as well as addressing cap issues and potential moves for next year, including how likely they are given who our decision makers are.
# Let's start with the offense:
**QB:** ***Patrick Mahomes*** is the best quarterback in the league, full stop.
[Goldman] Chiefs DC Steve Spagnuolo on S Jaden Hicks: "If you ask Jaden, he'd tell you he's had an up-and-down season. We're going to need him now... He's had some flasshes... He's made some mistakes that we wouldn't have thought he would make in his second season."
How the Chiefs should evaluate the remainder of this season — With the Chiefs all but mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, here’s a few adjustments that can be made for the remainder of the season that I think are critical for evaluating this team going into 2026:
- Esa Pole needs starting reps at RT going forward: if he can prove he’s capable of handling RT at an above average level, it guarantees Jawaan Taylor AND Jaylon Moore will be released saving a ton of cap space. Our starting 5 Oline would be set under contract for the foreseeable future.
[McMullen] Final injury report of the week is here. CRW and Nikko Remigio are out, Trey and Jawaan are Doubtful. Everybody else was a full participant.
[McMullen] Here's Thursday's injury report for the Chiefs and Texans. No changes for KC: CRW, Trey Smith, and Jawaan Taylor did not participate. Everybody else was a full participant. Anderson Jr., Autrey, Brown, and Marks practiced for the Texans —

[McMullen] Here's the final injury report for KC and Indy. Pacheco was the only limited participant and has been ruled out; everybody else was a full participant. Kingsley and Worthy are officially Questionable for Sunday.

Key sections:
During a postgame meeting, (Steve Spagnuolo) said he didn’t feel like he’d coached his best game.
“It begins with me,” Spagnuolo said Thursday in an interview with reporters. “If I sit there and critique and look in the mirror, I’ve got three or four plays and I go, ‘Nah, I shouldn’t have done that,’ that could be the difference in the game. So I, myself, want to make sure that doesn’t happen again.”
“They got us on the eyes,” Cornerback
[Justin Reid] Jaden Hicks is a star in this league. I’ve seen firsthand what this kid can do. One game does not define any player, coach or team. There are a ton of plays for a bunch of players on both sides of the ball to learn from.
Roster Evaluation — Listen, I don't want to beat the dead horse but there are two serious problems that we've had for years that is finally catching up. Our talent evaluation has been terrible since the 2023 draft, especially on defense. We also are unable to sign any above average - elite players in free agency.
I'll be going through our recent drafts and current roster, feel free to read or not, I just want the discussion to be had.
2023 Draft:
Pick 1 (1,31) FAU - On IR, invisible when healthy. Arguably one of
Best, Worst, and Most-likely scenarios for the upcomming season — Here are my projections for the upcoming Chiefs season. I will start by outlining a best (semi-realistic) scenario, a worst (semi-realistic) scenario, and then what I consider to be the most likely scenario.
First I will explain what I mean by best and worst “semi-realistic” scenarios. Obviously, it is possible that Kansas City gets very lucky, has several players make the jump to stardom, stays completely healthy, and goes undefeated. However, this is so unlikely that this possibility will no

We’re back for the second half of yet another two-part series, only this time in written form, as we switch sides of the ball and talk about some of my favorite second- and third-year defenders, who I expect to take the next step. # General Season Overview
This season from the Cleveland Browns disappointed everybody except those who prefer the NFL draft. Last year, the Browns had a middling first half of the season. Deshaun Watson played poorly, but a

Key position battles across 2024 NFL training camps: — https://preview.redd.it/9pyzgxszqmed1.png?width=900&format=png&auto=webp&s=cd7aac1c38b714a4daa5a5c2aa2ff19d2c3849c0

With all veterans across the NFL arriving at their team facilities for training camp, it’s time to look at the most interesting and/or meaningful competitions for starting jobs. I want to describe what role needs to be filled – some more distinctly defined than others – with a quick summary of why the spot is up for grabs, present the candidates with some statistics to back up
Round 4 - Pick 33: Jaden Hicks, S, Washington St (Kansas City Chiefs)
By my count, 11 combine participants caught a pass from Michael Penix last season — - Dillon Johnson (RB, Washington)
- Rome Odunze (WR, Washington)
- Ja'Lynn Polk (WR, Washington)
- Jalen McMillan (WR, Washington)
- Jack Westover (TE, Washington)
- Devin Culp (TE, Washington)
- Ro Torrence (CB, Arizona State)
- Christian Roland-Wallace (CB, USC)
- Jaden Hicks (S, Washington State)
- Khyree Jackson (CB, Oregon)
- Mike Sainristil (CB, Michigan)
I'm thinking that might be a record. It seems like record territory.
Bo Nix only had 3. Jayden Daniels had 6. Caleb Williams
