The Alphabet Tournament — I went ahead and built an all time team for each letter of the alphabet, based on first name. Where there are two possible names I went with the more commonly used one (e.g. Magic Johnson rather than Earvin Johnson). Because I'm also a fan of European basketball I've sprinkled in some Euroleague legends, especially in letter where pickings were slim. I swear on my life this is not AI generated!

Which initials have produced the best NBA players (i.e. MJ - Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, etc.) — Taking the first letter of a person's first name and the first letter of their last name gives a string of two letters to each NBA player. For example, LeBron James gives LJ, Chris Paul gives CP, and so on. I thought it would be interesting to look at which initials have produced the most NBA talent. I'll be going off win shares because it's virtually the only all-in-one stat that goes back to the league's inception. This also means we're going off of players' entire careers rather than their pr

Top 10 NBA players for each letter of the alphabet
— The origins of this list came about when the Denver Nuggets won the NBA chip last year. I asked my bball group chat if winning the NBA chip made Jamal the best NBA player named Jamal/Jamaal. I then made this list:
Jamal Murray Jamal Crawford Jamal Mashburn Jamaal Magloire Jamaal Tinsley
After some research we learned about Jamaal Wilkes and then we made Tinsley an honorable mention.
With the NBA playoffs coming, I thought I tried to do something similar but on a much larger scale and share it
All Star and All NBA appearances of top 5 picks in the modern era — After seeing the interesting post by u/SerialRapper, the comment by u/NJ_Citizen and having too much time on my hands, I thought it would be interesting to see how many top 5 picks since 1966 have gotten an All Star or All NBA/All ABA selection, and how much it differs from the 75% of first overall picks who managed to do so.
1966 (5/5):
1. Cazzie Russell (1x All Star)
2. Dave Bing (7x All Star, 3x All NBA, HoF)
3. Clyde Lee (1x All Star)
4. Lou Hudson (6x All Star, 1x All NBA, HoF)
5. Jack Ma
What is the best all-time team you can assemble using players born on the same day? — I know it says players born on the same day in the title, but this post is really about players with the same birthday, not born on the exact same day. I think this sub auto-filters out posts with "birthday" in the title, so that's why I used different wording.
First, I just want you to realize how much work went into this, and that I only looked at approximately 5% of all birthdays (I'll explain more down below). So, there's a very good chance there is a birthday that has better teams than wha

I'll spare the overly long intro from the first time and give this abbreviated version- starting in 1960, this series looks to go through the history of the NBA and revote on the hall of fame classes, while adopting the rules from baseball's hall of fame. Memphis Grizzlies Mid-Season Player Grades — Well, friends, we’ve done it. We have passed the midway point of the NBA season. Looking back, did you expect that the Grizzlies would be in 3rd place in the West and the hottest team in the game and seeking to maintain home court advantage for the playoffs? I sure didn’t, but I’m thoroughly enjoying this pleasant surprise.
With forty-plus games under our belt, I invite you along for the journey of my annual mid-season player grading tradition. These grades are biased and based on my preseason

Best NBA scorers who never hit a game-winning buzzer-beater in their career — Normally, when we think of the greatest scorers in history, we also think of clutch. Naturally, these players would be good choices for hitting game-winners, with the most exciting of these being game-winning buzzer-beaters.
However, not all great scorers in NBA history had the opportunity to hit one. Some of these genuinely surprised me. Anyone in bold is currently active, so they can take themselves off the list any time.
Emphasis on game-winning and buzzer-beater here. Some players have hit

The Best Basketball Player Born on Every Day of the Year — So this is pretty long. For this list I tried to pick based on who was the best overall at this point in history rather than who will be the best in the future, aka I put Adrian Dantley over Luka Doncic. A lot of these decisions could be a pretty interesting discussion like Moses Malone vs Jason Kidd or Andrew Wiggins vs D'Angelo Russel vs Jamal Murray, but I pretty much made most of my choices in less than 30 seconds so I'm sorry if I missed something. Anyways here is the list:

Draft History of NBA Teams — I'm bored as hell so I decided it'd be interesting to look at how well each team in the NBA drafts. I only went back to 1966 because that's when they got rid of territorial selections. Technically some of these players weren't drafted by that specific team because the NBA has dumb rules when it comes to trading picks and they have to wear the wrong hat when they are drafted. (i.e. Luka Doncic, LaMarcus Aldridge) For this the players are in the chart for the team that had their draft rights and p
Did Scottie Pippen always guard the other team's best player? — As a lot of you guys probably know, with the release of The Last Dance, there's been a closer look into MJ's career and his bulls. One of the things that's commonly accepted nowadays is that Scottie Pippen always guarded the other team's best player which is interesting because Jordan had always been regarded as the better defender than Pippen for their overall careers. Only after their careers ended did revisionism start the myth that Pippen was the better defender and guarded top threats more
